The Bishop McCort Crushers softball team scored 9 runs and limited the visiting Bedford Bison to 4 in the Crushers league triumph on Tuesday.

With the triumph, Bishop McCort moves its record to 5-7 on the year. The Crushers travel to Bishop Carroll (Ebensburg, PA) to play the Huskies in a Laurel Highlands 1 game on Wednesday, May 1. The Huskies come into the game with a record of 1-0.

In their next game, the Bison play the Greater Johnstown Trojans (Johnstown, PA) in a Laurel Highlands 2 game, on Thursday, May 2. Bedford will attempt to move on its 1-10 season record.

Jenna Gaunt hits and pitches Lady Crushers to 9-4 victory

Jenna Gaunt was strong at the plate and on the rubber in carrying Lady Crushers to a 9-4 victory over Bedford on Tuesday at Roxbury.

Gaunt had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. She homered in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Lady Crushers got the win thanks in large part to Gaunt's dominant, 11-strikeout performance. Gaunt allowed three earned runs, six hits and four walks over seven innings.

Lady Crushers was sparked by Gaunt and Jillian Shroyer, who teamed up for three hits and two RBIs.

The game's last lead went to Lady Crushers thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI double by Emily Daley.

Lady Crushers piled on three more runs in the bottom of the second. A error scored Jessica Schulte to get Lady Crushers on the board in the inning.
