Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the host New Hanover Wildcats (Wilmington, NC), 16-0 in a league challenge.

The Buccaneers now own a 16-2 record. They take the field next when they host Topsail for a Mideastern 3A/4A challenge on Thursday, May 2. Laney will battle a Pirates squad coming off a 10-0 league win over Ashley (Wilmington, NC). The Pirates record now stands at 15-4.

With the loss, New Hanover falls to 0-17 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Kinston (Kinston, NC) to battle the Vikings in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 1. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 0-15. Kinston lost 19-0 in their recent league challenge against Southwest Onslow (Jacksonville, NC)
