The Burton Black Raiders got by the visiting Gate City Blue Devils softball squad by a final score of 6-5 in Thursday's non-league bout.
The Black Raiders (8-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Rye Cove (Clinchport, VA). The Eagles enter the 1A Conference 48 challenge with a 1-1 record. In their last challenge, Rye Cove got by Walker (Ewing, VA), 18-1, in a league challenge.
With the loss, Gate City falls to 8-4 on the campaign. The Blue devils travel to Abingdon (Abingdon, VA) to face the Falcons in a non-league challenge on Friday, May 2. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 1-1. Abingdon lost 2-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Honaker (Honaker, VA)
