Wisconsin High School Baseball - Greendale nips Lake Country Lutheran
May 3, 2023: Greendale, WI 53129 Greendale Panthers (Greendale, WI) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Lake Country Lutheran Lightning (Hartland, WI), 4-3 in a non-league test.
With the win, Greendale upgrades its record to 9-6 on the season. The Panthers host West Allis Hale (West Allis, WI) to battle the Huskies in a non-league test on Friday, May 5. The Huskies come into the test with a record of 4-7. West Allis Hale won 9-7 in their recent league test against Germantown (Germantown, WI)
With the defeat, Lake Country Lutheran falls to 10-4 on the season. The Lightning host Living Word Lutheran (Jackson, WI) to battle the Timberwolves in a Midwest Classic test on Thursday, May 4. The Timberwolves come into the test with a record of 8-4. Living Word Lutheran lost 14-0 in their recent league test against Lake Country Lutheran (Hartland, WI)
Game Summary
LCL took a very tough non-conference loss against Greendale. After leading the whole game, the Lightning gave up a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh, and proceeded to lose via two errors in the bottom of the ninth. Gavin Baranyk did an outstanding job pitching, going the first 5-1/3 innings and striking out 5 while allowing only 3 hits and 1 run. The LCL offense was lead by Brendon Flinton who was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and Jack Poellot who was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. LCL is now 10-4 overall.
