Lyons Lions (LaGrange, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Stagg Chargers (Palos Hills, IL), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now sport a 13-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hinsdale Central for a West Suburban - Silver challenge on Monday, May 6. Lyons will face a Red Devils squad coming off a 13-3 league loss to Downers Grove North (Downers Grove, IL). The Red Devils record now stands at 6-11.

With the loss, Stagg falls to 0-3 on the campaign. The Chargers host Central (Naperville, IL) to face the Red Hawks in a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 11. The Red Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 25-0.

Lyons Township outlasted Stagg on Saturday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 6-5 win at Stagg.

Lyons Township took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. Lyons Township scored on a two-run single by Courtney Petrosius off Lexi Minet, scoring Becky Ryckman and Ashley Koziol. A two-run single by Petrosius scored Ryckman and Koziol to give Lyons Township the lead for good.

Ryckman did her best to jumpstart the offense for Lyons Township , reaching base three times. She singled in the third and fifth innings.

Even though Katie Dzierwa allowed five runs over seven innings she still recorded the victory. She struck out none, walked three and surrendered five hits.

The top of the first saw Lyons Township take an early lead, 2-0. A double by Petrosius, bringing home Leah Nu?ez and Ryckman started the inning off.
