Mercy Tigers (Middletown, CT) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting Hand Tigers (Madison, CT), 14-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Tigers now sport a 8-3 record. They take the field next when they host Branford for a Southern Connecticut - Quinnipiac challenge on Friday, May 7. Mercy will face a Hornets squad coming off a 15-0 non-league win over Hillhouse (New Haven, CT). The Hornets record now stands at 4-9.

With the loss, Hand falls to 4-8 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Amity Regional (Woodbridge, CT) to face the Spartans in a non-league challenge on Friday, May 7. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 9-2. Amity Regional won 9-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Sacred Heart Academy (Hamden, CT)
