Wilmington Wildcats (Wilmington, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Reed-Custer Comets (Braidwood, IL), 12-8 in a league challenge.
The Wildcats now own a 2-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Coal City for a Illinois Central Eight challenge on Monday, May 10. Wilmington will battle a Coalers squad coming off a 1-0 non-league loss to Mendota (Mendota, IL). The Coalers record now stands at 6-5.
With the loss, Reed-Custer falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Comets host Seneca (Seneca, IL) to battle the Fighting Irish in a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 8. The Fighting Irish enter the challenge with a record of 8-2. Seneca won 8-4 in their recent league challenge against Woodland (Streator, IL)
