Spectators at Tuesday's non-league match between the East Columbus Gators (Lake Waccamaw, NC) and the visiting Gates County Red Barons (Gatesville, NC), witnessed East Columbus's softball squad tip Gates County by a count of 9-8.

The Gators now sport a 17-7 record. They play next when they travel to Chatham Charter for a non-league match on Thursday, May 9. East Columbus will face a Knights squad coming off a 6-0 non-league win over Jones (Trenton, NC). The Knights record now stands at 15-3.

With the loss, Gates County moves to 12-12 on the season.
