Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL) supporters left the game thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Metro-East Lutheran Knights (Edwardsville, IL), 10-5 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Southwestern improves its record to 13-3 on the year. The Piasa Birds host Greenville (Greenville, IL) to play the Comets in a South Central game on Friday, May 9. The Comets enter the game with a record of 18-5. Greenville won 8-1 in their recent league game against Litchfield (Litchfield, IL)

The Knights now hold a 4-10 record. They play next when they travel to Wesclin for a non-league game on Monday, May 12.
