Lake Wales Highlanders (Lake Wales, FL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Vanguard Knights (Ocala, FL), 6-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Highlanders now own a 17-11 record. They take the field next when they travel to Eustis for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, May 16. Lake Wales will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 12-2 non-league win over Rockledge (Rockledge, FL). The Panthers record now stands at 19-5.

With the loss, Vanguard falls to 17-8 on the campaign.
