Game Summary
CARDINALS GET KNIGHTED
Randall’s Island, NY – A close game got out of control in the last inning as the La Salle Cardinals fell to the Knights of Kennedy Catholic, Tuesday on Randall’s Island. The lost evens La Salle’s record at 4-4 heading into the final weeks of the season.
Cardinals pitching was decent, holding the top team from the CHSAA’s AA Westchester Division at bay for the first three innings. Xavier Guzman (L, 0-3) took the loss and at times was in control until tiring in the fourth and surrendering a two-run homerun to KC’s Masci. Izzac Garcia pitched the next two and sophomore Eamon Moogan did the yeoman’s work in the seventh. Again, the pitching held but La Salle was once again plagued by the error bug adding six more to the season’s total coupled with nine walks against a top team equals too much trouble to overcome.
The Cardinals scratched out four hits lead by first baseman, Alex Dayle (2 for 3, 2 opposite field hits) but never really threatened.
