New York High School Baseball - St. Mary's edged by St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute
May 15, 2023: Buffalo, NY 14223 The St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders got by the visiting St. Mary's Lancers baseball team by a count of 1-0 in Monday's league bout.
The Marauders now possess a 14-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Orchard Park for a non-league bout on Friday, May 19. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute will face a Quakers team coming off a 6-3 non-league win over Nichols (Buffalo, NY). The Quakers record now stands at 16-1.
Next, the Lancers face the Lancaster Legends (Lancaster, NY) in a non-league bout, on Friday, May 19. St. Mary's will attempt to move on its 9-10 season record.
Game Summary
Brendon Parker was terrific carrying a perfect game into the 7th inning. He got the first out of the 7th with a grounder and then gave up his first hit of the game. The Marauders then turned a double play to preserve the 1-0 victory. Aside from the single, no one else reached base on the day and Parker added 8 strikeouts in the gem. Giorgio Panepinto led off the bottom of the 6th with a double and came in to score when Anthony Greco doubled off the wall in right-center to provide the winning margin. The win sealed the Marauders 5th straight regular season title and they will be the #1 seed in the playoffs.
