In Thursday's non-league bout, the Nottoway Cougars (Nottoway, VA) baseball squad edged the host Mecklenburg County Phoenix (Baskerville, VA), by a tally of 10-9.

Next up, the Cougars encounter the Lunenburg Central Chargers (Victoria, VA) in a James River bout, on Saturday, May 17. Nottoway will attempt to upgrade on its 5-11 season record. The Chargers enter the bout with a 12-2 record after their 15-2 league win over Cumberland (Cumberland, VA).
