Grossmont Foothillers (El Cajon, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Valhalla Norsemen (El Cajon, CA), 5-2 in a league challenge.

The Foothillers now own a 7-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to El Capitan for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, May 25. Grossmont will battle a Vaqueros squad coming off a 8-0 league loss to Santana (Santee, CA). The Vaqueros record now stands at 11-6.

With the loss, Valhalla falls to 10-9 on the campaign. The Norsemen host Helix (La Mesa, CA) to battle the Highlanders in a Grossmont Hills challenge on Monday, May 24. The Highlanders enter the challenge with a record of 19-4. Helix won 3-1 in their recent league challenge against West Hills (Santee, CA)
