May 23, 2024: Wausau, WI 54401 The crowd at Thursday's non-league match between the Newman Fighting Cardinals (Wausau, WI) and the visiting Wabeno/Laona Rebels (Wabeno, WI), saw Newman's softball squad nip Wabeno/Laona by a count of 7-3.
The Fighting Cardinals now sport a 6-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to Florence for a non-league match on Wednesday, May 29. Newman will face a Bobcats squad coming off a 4-2 non-league win over Niagara (Niagara, WI). The Bobcats record now stands at 10-3.
With the loss, Wabeno/Laona falls to 0-1 on the campaign.
