June 7, 2023: Perkasie, PA 18944 In Wednesday's non-league contest, the Springfield Cougars (Springfield, PA) lacrosse squad routed the host Pennridge Rams (Perkasie, PA), by a count of 17-3.
The Rams now own a 17-3 record.
Game Summary
Springfield Cougars took care of business in the first round of the 3A State tournament Wednesday night. The cougars 17 goals came from 9 different goal scorers, with the name Tyler Gougler not being in there. Tyler suffered a leg injury in the closing seconds of the Cougars victory over Radnor in the District 1 3A championship last week, and will likely miss the remainder of the season. While Gougler was on the sidelines rooting his team on, (So) Patrick Flaherty and (Sr) Jimmy Kennedy, took control of the game. The two combined for 8 goals and 4 assists, including the two hooking up 3 times for goals in the first half. The Cougars now set their eyes to a matchup with Mt. Lebanon on Saturday afternoon in the State Quarterfinals. There is no doubt (Jr) Tyler Gougler will be the number 1 supporter of this team moving forward.
