June 7, 2025: Johnston, IA 50131 Johnston Dragons (Johnston, IA) supporters left the game thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Kennedy Cougars (Cedar Rapids, IA), 4-3 in a non-league game.
With the triumph, Johnston improves its record to 8-4 on the year. The Dragons travel to Urbandale (Urbandale, IA) to face the J-Hawks in a CIML game on Monday, June 9. The J-Hawks enter the game with a record of 3-7. Urbandale lost 9-2 in their recent non-league game against Dallas Center-Grimes (Dallas Center, IA)
The Cougars now hold a 1-5 record. They play next when they host Linn-Mar for a Mississippi Valley - Valley game on Tuesday, June 10. Kennedy will face a Lions squad coming off a 3-0 non-league win over Pleasant Valley (Pleasant Valley, IA). The Lions record now stands at 7-0.
