Newkirk Tigers (Newkirk, OK) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cushing Tigers (Cushing, OK), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Tigers now own a 6-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Henryetta for a 3A challenge on Thursday, August 10. Newkirk will face a Knights squad coming off a 16-5 league win over Spiro (Spiro, OK). The Knights record now stands at 4-0.

With the loss, Cushing falls to 1-4 on the campaign. The Tigers host Frontier (Red Rock, OK) to face the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Thursday, August 10.
