In Friday's non-league match, the visiting R-S Central Hilltoppers football squad scored a close 31-24 victory over the McDowell Titans.

In their next game, the Hilltoppers clash with the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) in a non-league match, on Friday, August 25. R-S Central will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record. The Spartans enter the match with a 1-0 record after their 52-0 non-league win over West Caldwell (Lenoir, NC).

The Titans (0-1) will now prepare for their match against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC). The Mountaineers enter the non-league match with a 1-0 record. In their last match, Mitchell held off Charlotte Latin (Charlotte, NC), 16-7, in a non-league match.
