The McDowell Titans held off the host R-S Central Hilltoppers football team by a final score of 39-36 in Friday's non-league outing.

With the win, McDowell improves its record to 1-0 on the season. The Titans host Mitchell (Bakersville, NC) to confront the Mountaineers in a non-league outing on Friday, August 26. The Mountaineers go into the outing with a record of 1-0. Mitchell won 42-19 in their recent non-league outing against Erwin (Asheville, NC)

With the loss, R-S Central moves to 0-1 on the season. The Hilltoppers travel to West Caldwell (Lenoir, NC) to confront the Warriors in a non-league outing on Friday, August 26. The Warriors go into the outing with a record of 0-1. West Caldwell lost 28-7 in their recent non-league outing against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC)
