In Saturday's non-league battle, the visiting Lamar Texans volleyball team scored a tight 2-1 triumph over the Sweeny Bulldogs.

The Texans (5-7) will now prepare for their battle against Pasadena Memorial (Pasadena, TX). The Mavericks come into the non-league battle with a 8-7 record. In their last battle, Pasadena Memorial nudged Dayton (Dayton, TX), 2-0, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Bulldogs clash with the Bay City Blackcats (Bay City, TX) in a 4A Region IV District 25 battle, on Saturday, August 21. Sweeny will attempt to advance on its 1-6 season record. The Blackcats come into the battle with a 6-9 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Boling (Boling, TX).
