Cairo Syrupmakers (Cairo, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Howard Huskies (Macon, GA), 9-6 in a non-league challenge.

The Syrupmakers now own a 7-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Charlton County for a non-league challenge on Saturday, August 22. Cairo will battle a Indians squad coming off a 18-10 non-league win over Brooks County (Quitman, GA). The Indians record now stands at 10-0.

With the loss, Howard falls to 4-6 on the campaign. The Huskies host Mary Persons (Forsyth, GA) to battle the Bulldogs in a 2-AAAA challenge on Tuesday, August 25. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 1-5. Mary Persons lost 10-8 in their recent non-league challenge against Georgia Military College (Milledgeville, GA)
