In Friday's non-league match, the host McFarland Cougars football squad scored a close 7-6 victory over the Tranquillity Tigers.

In their next game, the Cougars clash with the Granite Hills Grizzlies (Porterville, CA) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 2. McFarland will attempt to move on its 1-1 season record. The Grizzlies enter the match with a 1-0 record after their 34-28 non-league win over Parlier (Parlier, CA).
