Grand Ledge Comets (Grand Ledge, MI) boosters were content Thursday as they observed their football squad nudge the host West Ottawa Panthers (Holland, MI), 30-27 in a non-league match.

The Comets (1-0) will now prepare for their match against Lakeview (Battle Creek, MI). The Spartans come into the non-league battle with a 0-1 record. In their last battle, Lakeview was tipped by Harper Creek (Battle Creek, MI), 42-0, in a non-league battle.

The Panthers now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they travel to Zeeland West for a non-league match on Friday, September 5. West Ottawa will meet a Dux squad coming off a 44-0 non-league win over Old Redford Academy (Detroit, MI). The Dux record now stands at 1-0.
