August 28, 2025: Lakeside, CA 92040 The El Capitan Vaqueros football squad scored 49 points and limited the visiting La Costa Canyon Mavericks to 0 in the Vaqueros non-league triumph on Thursday.
The Vaqueros now sport a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Santana for a non-league test on Thursday, September 4. El Capitan will clash with a Sultans squad coming off a 37-6 non-league win over Bonita Vista (Chula Vista, CA). The Sultans record now stands at 1-1.
With the defeat, La Costa Canyon drops to 2-2 on the campaign. The Mavericks travel to Del Norte (San Diego, CA) to battle the Nighthawks in a non-league game on Thursday, September 4. The Nighthawks enter the game with a record of 1-1. Del Norte lost 15-14 in their recent non-league game against St. Augustine (San Diego, CA)
