With the win, Walton upgrades its record to 2-2 on the campaign. The Braves travel to Destin (Destin, FL) to play the Sharks in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, September 2. The Sharks come into the challenge with a record of 0-3. Destin lost 2-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Freeport (Freeport, FL)
Next, the Phoenix face the JV Opponent (, ) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, September 2. Pensacola Area Homeschool will attempt to advance on its 3-6 season record.
Match Summary
It was our first visit to Defuniak Springs and the home of the Braves! In a rare match vs. a public high school, we were impressed with the nice, modern, roomy gym and the positive, Christian atmosphere there. As I anticipated, we swatted the serving bug tonight and our serving bounced back in this match to a more typical 82%! Along with improved serve receive and a solid passing game, our dependable serving helped us to stay competitive with the JV Lady Braves. Our players' growing chemistry showed, as they pursued the ball and kept it in play on our side of the court, keeping their opponents from scoring easy points. The end of the second set was devastating, as we gave up a multi point lead off of a serving run by So. Elliana O'Neill, to lose the match 26-24. Tough loss against a solid ball-handling team, but we are gaining ground in our ability to compete!
