Ohio High School Volleyball - Liberty-Benton crushed by Northview
August 29, 2023: Sylvania, OH 43560 The Northview Wildcats topped the visiting Liberty-Benton Eagles volleyball team by a score of 3-0 in Tuesday's non-league test.
The Wildcats now have a 3-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Perrysburg for a Northern Lakes test on Thursday, August 31. Northview will confront a Yellow Jackets team coming off a 3-2 league win over Whitmer (Toledo, OH). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 4-0.
The Eagles (4-1) will now prepare for their test against Clay (Oregon, OH). The Eagles enter the non-league test with a 4-3 record. In their last test, Clay dropped by Springfield (Holland, OH), 3-2, in a league test.
Match Summary
SYLVANIA - In a big non-conference match, one in which Liberty-Benton entered the match undefeated and Northview came in with just one loss, the Wildcats were able to win in straight sets, 3-0 to move to 3-1 overall, 2-0 NLL on the young season.
For Northview, it was a total team effort with 8 players recording at least one point scoring attack, 47 total team digs, 11 aces, 6 blocks, and a team passing rating of 1.90. Leading for Northview was senior Natalie Kerchevall with a team high 13 kills, hitting .296, and 7 digs, and senior Hannah Davis with 9 kills, hitting . 318, adding 5 digs and 3 aces. . Middle blockers Claire Smith and Lucy Sauer each added 4 kills, hitting .200 and .429 respectively. Senior setter, Hannah Schoen, dished out 32 assists and senior libero, Jordyn Pakulski recorded a team high 18 digs and added 3 aces.
