North Carolina High School Football - Alexander Central trounced by Hickory

August 29, 2025: Hickory, NC 28601

Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC) followers went home pleased Friday as they saw their football team triumph over the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 63-14 in a non-league battle.

With the win, Hickory advances its record to 1-1 on the season. The Red Tornadoes host Bunker Hill (Claremont, NC) to play the Bears in a Western Foothills 4A/5A battle on Friday, September 5. The Bears go into the battle with a record of 1-1. Bunker Hill lost 39-20 in their recent non-league battle against St. Stephens (Hickory, NC)

The Cougars now own a 0-2 record. They play next when they host Ashe County for a non-league battle on Friday, September 5. Alexander Central will play a Huskies team coming off a 56-7 non-league loss to Watauga (Boone, NC). The Huskies record now stands at 0-1.
