This was a tightly contested match between two #1 ranked teams in the pre-season coaches polls -- Marist #1 in 4A vs Catlin Gabel #1 in 3A.
The real story of the game was the strength of Marist's disciplined & organized team defense led by Sr, Goalkeeper (captain) Tessa Woodrum, Sr, Reese Fitzpatrick, Sr. McKenna Henderson, Sr, Sydney Clark, and Jr, Paige Meador.
It was an evenly matched, physical game....Catlin Gabel outshot Marist 8-5 while Marist had 7 corner kicks to CG's 5.
My Thoughts: "Give credit to Catlin Gabel who were technical and possessed well, however, they could not solve Marist's defensive front & counter-attacking play.
