August 31, 2023: York, PA 17403 Delone Catholic Squires (McSherrystown, PA) fans were thrilled Thursday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the host William Penn Bearcats (York, PA), 9-3 in a non-league challenge.
Next, the Squires face the Fairfield Knights (Fairfield, PA) in a York-Adams 4 challenge, on Tuesday, September 5. Delone Catholic will attempt to better on its 2-0 season record.
The Bearcats now have a 0-2 record. They take the field next when they host Red Lion for a York-Adams 1 challenge on Tuesday, September 5. William Penn will face a Lions team coming off a 7-0 non-league loss to Carlisle (Carlisle, PA). The Lions record now stands at 2-2.
Match Summary
The Squires started off strong with a 5-0 lead in the first half. There were moments that were great and some moments were a bit sloppy. We mixed in our subs and some JV players in the second half to provide more opportunities and ended with a 9-3 victory in our second non-conference game of the season. We will be more challenged in the Catholic Showcase on Saturday and that will be a true test for this team.
