Ohio High School Football - West Clermont trounced by Anderson
August 31, 2024: Cincinnati, OH 45255 The West Clermont Wolves football team (Cincinnati, OH), was crushed 49-8 in Saturday's league bout with the host Anderson Raptors (Cincinnati, OH)
With the win, Anderson advances its record to 2-0 on the season. The Raptors travel to Little Miami (Morrow, OH) to encounter the Panthers in a non-league bout on Saturday, September 7. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 0-1.
The Wolves now own a 0-1 record.
First Quarter
West Clermont opened the game with the ball, but were quickly forced to punt to the Raptors. Grant Fyffe connected on a long pass to Luke Pastura to put Anderson in Wolf territory, then Fyffe found Kaiden Raible just outside the red zone. With six minutes to go in the first, Raible threw a 30-yard touchdown to Pastura to put the Raptors up 6-0, but the two-point conversion was no good. West Clermont put together a solid following drive as Aiden Spencer found Riley Young for a long pass, but Anderson intercepted a pass. The Wolf defense answered a turnover of their own, however, recovered by Trey Blair with just over three minutes remaining. The quarter concluded with the Raptors still leading 8-0.
Second Quarter
West Clermont opened the second quarter with a punt, and Anderson took full advantage on the ensuing drive. The drive culminated in a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Luke Pastura and successful Fyffe to Pastura completion to extend the Raptors' lead to 16 with eight minutes left in the half. West Clermont threw for a long pass on its next drive, but the Wolves ultimately turned the ball over on downs. With three minutes remaining, Fyffe once again threw to Pastura for a long pass to put Anderson just outside the red zone. Fyffe then found Cooper Snider in the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown. A Luke Pastura rush extended the Raptors' lead to another two at 22-0. West Clermont was able to answer on the next drive thanks to a 45-yard touchdown pass and a Deacon Walley two-point conversion rush to cut the lead to a pair of touchdowns at 22-8. With two minutes to go, the Anderson offense put together a great drive that included 3 hookups from Fyffe to Kaleed Bennett and resulted in seven points
Third Quarter
Anderson began the third quarter with the ball and 29-8 lead over West Clermont, but their momentum was short lived when Truanda Smith recorded a Wolf sack. The Raptors were able to rebound with a long pass and a long Luke Pastura run, and Pastura pounded the ball in for a 13-yard touchdown to extend Anderson's lead. The extra point was no good, but the Raptors still led 35-8. West Clermont failed to score on the ensuing drive, and once again Anderson capitalized on a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Pastura. This time the extra point was good to make it 42-8. The score stood as the game entered the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The Wolves opened the fourth quarter with possession, but quickly turned the ball over on downs. A long pass from Fyffe to Kenwood Lattimore and a run by Pastura put the Raptors in scoring position, and Griffin Mebius ran for a 15-yard touchdown. Boyd added the extra point to put Anderson up 49-8. West Clermont could not muster points on the last drive of the game, and the Raptors emerged from Week 2 with a big 48-9 win over the Wolves.
