September 2, 2025: Wellsboro, PA 16901 Athens Wildcats (Athens, PA) backers exited the stadium in high spirits Tuesday as they observed their soccer squad knock off the host Wellsboro Hornets (Wellsboro, PA), 2-0 in a non-league bout.
The Wildcats now possess a 3-0 record. They play next when they travel to Williamson for a non-league bout on Thursday, September 4. Athens will play a Warriors squad coming off a 4-1 league loss to Northeast Bradford (Rome, PA). The Warriors record now stands at 4-1.
With the loss, Wellsboro moves to 3-1 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to North Penn-Liberty (Liberty, PA) to face the Mountie in a PIAA District IV-AA game on Thursday, September 4. The Mountie come into the game with a record of 3-1. North Penn-Liberty won 3-1 in their recent league game against Galeton (Galeton, PA)
