Akron-Westfield Westerners (Akron, IA) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they observed their volleyball team overcome the visiting Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals (Sibley, IA), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Westerners (2-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Hinton (Hinton, IA). The Blackhawks enter the non-league challenge with a 6-0 record. In their last challenge, Hinton beat Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union (Marcus, IA), 3-0, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Generals face the Gehlen Catholic Jays (Le Mars, IA) in a non-league test, on Tuesday, September 9. Sibley-Ocheyedan will attempt to improve on its 1-3 season record. The Jays go into the test with a 2-6 record after their 3-0 non-league win over West Sioux (Hawarden, IA).
