September 5, 2023: Carrollton, TX 75006 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league bout between the Newman Smith Trojans (Carrollton, TX) and the visiting Dunbar Wildcats (Fort Worth, TX), saw Newman Smith's volleyball squad beat Dunbar by a tally of 3-1.
With the win, Newman Smith upgrades its record to 4-12 on the year. The Trojans host Frisco (Frisco, TX) to play the Raccoons in a 5A Region II District 9 bout on Friday, September 8. The Raccoons go into the bout with a record of 6-12. Frisco lost 3-1 in their recent non-league bout against Denton (Denton, TX)
The Wildcats now own a 4-8 record. They play next when they travel to Carter-Riverside for a 4A Region II District 9 bout on Friday, September 8. Dunbar will play a Eagles squad coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to Lake Worth (Lake Worth, TX). The Eagles record now stands at 2-10.
