In Thursday's league challenge, the host Wayne Pioneers volleyball team scored a 2-0 victory over the Independence Patriots.

The Pioneers (5-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Buffalo (Buffalo, WV). The Bison enter the non-league challenge with a 8-1 record. In their last challenge, Buffalo beat Sherman (Seth, WV), 3-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Patriots meet the Shady Spring Tigers (Shady Spring, WV) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, September 5. Independence will attempt to better on its 2-4 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 2-5 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Greenbrier West (Charmco, WV).
