The Mount Vernon Tigers (Mount Vernon, TX) football knocked off the visiting Rusk Eagles (Rusk, TX), 33-21 in Friday's non-league outing.

The Tigers now sport a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Pottsboro for a non-league outing on Friday, September 12. Mount Vernon will battle a Cardinals team coming off a 28-21 non-league loss to Sanger (Sanger, TX). The Cardinals record now stands at 1-1.
