Match Summary
The Pirates had a great game against Jellico on Tuesday night. There were plenty of volleys that had teams anxiously awaiting the point. The Pirates continue to have some issues with timing, and many plays could have been improved with speed and intensity. As assistant coach I try not to engage too much but I often tell the girls they are serving "soft serve" ice cream to the other team. Meaning they are passing it gently to the other team allowing them plenty of time to plan and organize a play. We are going to work on increasing our speed and power and actually making strong contact verses "passing" the ball to the other side. There was plenty of good ball contact made but to highlight memorable moments, Kylie Ferguson, Ava Dalton and Abigail Epperson were fiercely playing at the net with Abagail at one point making contact three times in a row at the net with no one else touching the ball.
