Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) followers left the game satisfied Saturday as they saw their volleyball squad achieve victory over the host Richland County Tigers (Olney, IL), 2-0 in a non-league test.

With the win, Newton advances its record to 6-5 on the season. The Eagles travel to Fairfield (Fairfield, IL) to play the Mules in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, September 9. The Mules come into the challenge with a record of 9-2. Fairfield won 2-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Hinsdale South (Darien, IL)

Next, the Tigers play the Lawrenceville Indians (Lawrenceville, IL) in a Little Illini challenge, on Thursday, September 11. Richland County will attempt to upgrade on its 2-7 season record. The Indians go into the game with a 7-6 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Flora (Flora, IL).
