The Union Spartans volleyball squad (Rose Hill, NC), was edged 2-1 in Monday's non-league battle with the host Pender Patriots (Burgaw, NC)

With the win, Pender improves its record to 7-3 on the year. The Patriots travel to North Brunswick (Leland, NC) to meet the Scorpions in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, September 9. The Scorpions enter the challenge with a record of 4-6. North Brunswick lost 2-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Cape Fear Academy (Wilmington, NC)
