North Carolina High School Football - Avery County held off by McDowell

September 10, 2021: Newland, NC 28657

McDowell Titans (Marion, NC) fans left the game content Friday as they saw their football team nip the host Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), 36-33 in a non-league test.

With the triumph, McDowell improves its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The Titans host T.C. Roberson (Asheville, NC) to battle the Rams in a 3A/4A West Conference 53 test on Friday, September 17. The Rams come into the test with a record of 1-2. T.C. Roberson lost 35-12 in their recent non-league test against Smoky Mountain (Sylva, NC)

With the loss, Avery County drops to 0-4 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Rosman (Rosman, NC) to battle the Tigers in a non-league test on Friday, September 17. The Tigers come into the test with a record of 0-2.
