Pennsylvania High School Soccer - Delone Catholic knocks off Fairfield
September 11, 2025: McSherrystown, PA 17344 In Thursday's league outing, the host Delone Catholic Squires soccer squad scored a tight 7-2 win over the Fairfield Knights.
The Squires (3-4) will now prepare for their outing against York Catholic (York, PA). The Fighting Irish enter the York-Adams 3 outing with a 8-0 record. In their last outing, York Catholic tipped Lancaster County Christian (Lancaster, PA), 1-0, in a non-league outing.

The Squires had the game easily against the Knights Thursday evening. In the first half, Will Holtz #10 scored after dribbling through their defense with ease in the first few minutes of the game. Seconds later, Nico Scamardella #2 scored after follow-up on a missed shot. With 29 minutes remaining, Scamardella headed to Holtz #10 for the third goal. At the 15 minute mark, John Keeley #9 scored the fourth goal off a nice volley over to the goal from Scamardella. Minutes later Giorgio Lima #4 made a long pass from the defense to Holtz #10 scoring the fifth goal. Seconds later, Isaac Rasher #53 on defense booted it up the field and #10 Holtz put it in for the sixth goal of the game making it 6-0 at half and Will Holtz #10 a junior set a Delone Catholic school record for 4 goals scored in a single game. In the second half, mostly JV played or underclassmen. With 16 minutes left, Dacosta Wivell #7 (senior) scored the 7th goal. The Knights managed to get two in for a final 7-2 score.
