September 14, 2022: Cosby, TN 37722 In Wednesday's league contest, the Cosby Eagles (Cosby, TN) volleyball squad knocked off the visiting Washburn Pirates (Washburn, TN), by a margin of 2-0.
With the loss, Washburn drops to 1-5 on the campaign. The Pirates host Union County (Maynardville, TN) to battle the Patriots in a non-league contest on Monday, September 19. The Patriots come into the contest with a record of 1-0. Union County won 2-0 in their recent non-league contest against Washburn (Washburn, TN)
Match Summary
The Pirates JV team put up a good battle with Cosby. Unfortunately the Blue Devils had some really strong serves that the Pirates struggled to keep in play. It was a back and forth battle in the first match but by set two the Pirates were a tad worn out with digs and struggled to stay in the game. Some highlights from the game were the attacks at the net made by Mara Seguna and Abigail Epperson. Taylie Proffitt took multiple attempts at blocking and made some really solid passes from deep in the back. The team is certainly growing each game.
