The Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) football edged the visiting Marvin Ridge Mavericks (Waxhaw, NC), 20-14 in Thursday's non-league bout.

In their next game, the Cougars face the Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, September 29. Alexander Central will attempt to advance on its 3-2 season record. The Huskies enter the bout with a 1-4 record after their 49-12 non-league loss to Watauga (Boone, NC).

The Mavericks (3-2) will now prepare for their bout against Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC). The Pirates enter the non-league bout with a 1-3 record.
