The Newton County Cougars football team (Decatur, MS), was tipped 49-45 in Friday's non-league challenge with the host Union Yellowjackets (Union, MS)

The Yellowjackets (4-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Lake (Lake, MS). The Hornets come into the non-league challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, Lake nipped Choctaw Central (Philadelphia, MS), 16-14, in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now sport a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Kosciusko for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 22. Newton County will meet a Whippets team coming off a 37-17 non-league loss to Winona (Winona, MS). The Whippets record now stands at 2-1.
