September 16, 2023: Metamora, IL 61548 The crowd at Saturday's non-league test between the St. Thomas More Sabers (Champaign, IL) and the host Metamora Redbirds (Metamora, IL), saw St. Thomas More's soccer squad beat Metamora by a count of 5-1.
The Sabers now hold a 4-4 record. They play next when they host Oakwood/Catlin for a non-league test on Monday, September 18. St. Thomas More will meet a Comets squad coming off a 9-0 league win over Schlarman (Danville, IL). The Comets record now stands at 6-6.
With the loss, Metamora drops to 2-6 on the season. The Redbirds host Galesburg (Galesburg, IL) to meet the Silver Streaks in a non-league test on Thursday, September 21. The Silver Streaks come into the test with a record of 7-2. Galesburg won 8-1 in their recent non-league test against Limestone (Bartonville, IL)
