September 17, 2025: Smithfield, NC 27577 Fans at Wednesday's league battle between the Clayton Comets (Clayton, NC) and the host Smithfield-Selma Spartans (Smithfield, NC), saw Clayton's soccer squad knock off Smithfield-Selma by a count of 3-1.
The Comets (7-2) will now prepare for their battle against Southeast Raleigh (Raleigh, NC). The Bulldogs enter the Greater Neuse River 7A battle with a 4-6 record. In their last battle, Southeast Raleigh by Cary (Cary, NC), 3-0, in a non-league battle.
Next up, the Spartans confront the Garner Trojans (Garner, NC) in a Greater Neuse River 7A battle, on Monday, September 22. Smithfield-Selma will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record. The Trojans enter the battle with a 5-4 record after their 3-1 league win over Southeast Raleigh (Raleigh, NC).
