Illinois High School Soccer - Grant Community overwhelmed by Deerfield
September 18, 2021: Fox Lake, IL 60020 In Saturday's non-league battle, the visiting Deerfield Warriors soccer squad scored a close 7-1 triumph over the Grant Community Bulldogs.
The Warriors (5-3) will now prepare for their battle against Maine West (Des Plaines, IL). The Warriors come into the Central Suburban - North battle with a 2-6 record. In their last battle, Maine West nudged Vernon Hills (Vernon Hills, IL), 2-1, in a league battle.
The Bulldogs (4-8) will now prepare for their battle against Grayslake Central (Grayslake, IL). The Rams come into the Northern Lake County battle with a 4-4 record. In their last battle, Grayslake Central Warren Township (Gurnee, IL), 1-1, in a non-league battle.
Game Summary
After spotting the Bulldogs an early goal, the Warriors stormed back in the second half with 7. Matthew Neumann tapped in a cross from Peter Straus in the 42nd. Straus converted a pk in the 47th. Andrew Babos scored his 1st varsity goal on a cross from Ari Shamberg. Ryder Coleman scored on an assist from Mason Greitens in the 53rd. Jack Wax notched his first varsity goal on an assist from Neumann. Babos got his second on a Wax assist. Wax's diving header set up Jason Neider for his first varsity goal to close out the scoring.
