In Thursday's non-league match, the visiting Covington Chargers football squad scored a close 42-38 victory over the Fairley Bulldogs.

In their next game, the Chargers clash with the McNairy Central Bobcats (Selmer, TN) in a 3A Region 7 match, on Friday, September 29. Covington will attempt to move on its 4-2 season record. The Bobcats enter the match with a 1-5 record after their 22-20 league loss to Bolivar Central (Bolivar, TN).

The Bulldogs (6-2) will now prepare for their match against Hillcrest (Memphis, TN). The Vikings enter the 2A Region 8 match with a 2-5 record. In their last match, Hillcrest was nudged by Sheffield (Memphis, TN), 52-0, in a non-league match.
