In Thursday's non-league game, the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots (Mission, TX) football team knocked off the host Hanna Golden Eagles (Brownsville, TX), by a score of 49-19.

The Patriots (2-3) will now prepare for their game against Pioneer (Mission, TX). The Diamondbacks come into the 5A-2 Region IV District 16 game with a 5-0 record. In their last game, Pioneer toppled Alexander (Laredo, TX), 46-40, in a non-league game.

The Golden Eagles now sport a 1-4 record. They take the field next when they host San Benito for a 6A Region IV District 32 game on Friday, October 6. Hanna will battle a Greyhounds team coming off a 48-7 non-league win over Edinburg (Edinburg, TX). The Greyhounds record now stands at 5-0.
