With the win, Northview improves its record to 4-10 on the season. The Wildcats host Springfield (Holland, OH) to encounter the Blue Devils in a Northern Lakes battle on Tuesday, September 24. The Blue Devils go into the battle with a record of 4-9.
The Bulldogs now own a 11-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Bryan for a non-league battle on Monday, September 23. Defiance will encounter a Golden Bears squad coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Hicksville (Hicksville, OH). The Golden Bears record now stands at 0-12.
Match Summary
SYLVANIA - Saturday's Match was Dig Pink day for Defiance at Northview and it was the Cats victorious in four sets. In each of the first three sets, Northview saw a deficit of 21-23 late and was successful in sets 2 and 3 and then the rolls reversed for set 4 and Northview was able to keep the 2 point lead to take the match.
Leading for Northview was sophomore middle blocker, Frankie Ramsdell-Washington with 16 kills, hitting .448 and added 4 blocks. Junior pin hitter, Bri Langenderfer, added 9 kills and 1 block and junior pin hitter, Tali Twigg, added 7 kills, hitting .182, and 7 digs. The offense was masterfully led by sophomore setter, Alayna Sauer, with 36 assists, 7 digs and 3 aces. Adding to the offense was sophomore Kyra Ervin with 8 aces and digs. The offense was able to produce because of the 17 digs from senior libero, Paige LaBudda, while passing a 2.27.
The Cats return to action on Tuesday as they host Springfield in Project Unify Night and Teacher Appreciation Night.
